Jakob’s Days began in Sunny Summer Spirits
Jakob’s Days have started in beautiful summer weather, and visitors can continue to enjoy the festival atmosphere throughout the rest of the week. The event week has already attracted large numbers of people to a variety of activities and events across the town.
Last Sunday, the traditional Children’s Day was celebrated in School Park, offering fun activities and joyful experiences for the youngest members of the family. In the evening, during the official opening of Jakob’s Days, the male choir Sångarbröderna was crowned this year’s Lazy Jaakko.
The week continued on a lively note on Monday as the Grand Flea Market filled the Market Square with sellers, shoppers and a vibrant summer atmosphere.
Today’s programme once again offers plenty to experience for visitors of all ages. During the day, visitors can, for example, attend the open house at the Strengberg Tobacco Museum, join guided tours at Nanoq, or meet visiting authors at the Town Library. In the evening, highlights include the Opera Gala at the Schauman Hall and a guided walking tour of the old cemetery organised by the Jakobstad Region Guides Association.
