There’s still plenty of summer left, but are you already thinking about your autumn hobbies?

You can explore the course offerings of Jakobstad’s Finnish-language adult education centre Työvis and Swedish-language adult education centre Arbis on the institutes’ websites. Registration for courses in autumn 2026 and spring 2027 opens on 17 August 2026 at 9:00 a.m.

The adult education centres in Jakobstad offer hundreds of different courses where you can pursue interests such as languages, handicrafts, exercise, music, and cooking. (Please note that adult education centres also offer some courses for children and teenagers!)

Registration is also currently open for Wava Institute’s various programmes in basic arts education, music play school, and choir activities. At Wava Institute, you can study music, visual arts, dance, and theatre in a goal-oriented way according to the curriculum. The institute’s activities are multilingual.

The institute also offers early childhood music education, including music play school, as well as project-based creative writing and literary arts instruction. Although most of the institute’s students are children and young people, adults also have the opportunity to study through the institute’s open department under the guidance of skilled teachers, either in private lessons, bands, or choirs.
