The Technical Services Committee approved the street plan for the section of Storgatan between Rådhusgatan and Styrmansgatan on 26 August 2026. The entire street section will be transformed into a continuous shared street. The vehicle lane will be surfaced with asphalt, while the remaining areas will be paved with granite curbstones and concrete slabs.

The objectives of the redevelopment are to:

• Improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists
• Give Storgatan a clearer and more attractive appearance
• Create better opportunities for summer terraces and events

Project Schedule

The work will be carried out in two phases:

• Rådhusgatan–Kanalesplanaden (pedestrian street): to be upgraded during the current year
• Kanalesplanaden–Styrmansgatan: to be completed next year
