The ongoing construction work in the Sikören area is progressing according to plan. Fabriksgatan is nearly complete and will reopen to traffic no later than Wednesday, 2 September 2026. After that, work will move to Östra Ringvägen, which will be closed for approximately two weeks. Fabriksgatan and Östra Ringvägen will not be closed at the same time.

Once the work on Östra Ringvägen has been completed, the final asphalt paving works will be carried out in the area. The areas to be paved include the Jakobsgatan underpass intersection, Fabriksgatan and Östra Ringvägen. During the paving works, short traffic interruptions of up to half a day may occur.

Jakobstad Water and the Town’s Municipal Engineering Department are carrying out modification works on the area’s sewer system.

The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of September.
